Did you know? There are 2 types of IELTS exams

For those of you who fell into this article, I will briefly explain what the IELTS exam is and why you should take this test.

To start, the IELTS is a proficiency exam designed to help people who want to:

  • Migrate to other countries, such as Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and the United States.
  • Non-English speakers to start University in English-speaking countries
  • Prove you’re proficient in the English Language so you can get a work permit

The exam also serves to demonstrate language proficiency for jobs in non-English-speaking countries, where it is necessary for the employee to speak fluent English.

Now that you know and understand why IELTS is necessary, let me introduce you to the types of IELTS exams and which one you should take based on your goal.

Today, there are two types of IELTS exams:

  1. IELTS ACADEMIC
IELTS Academic is designed for anyone with an intermediate or advanced level who wants to study in an English-speaking country.

The primary purpose of IELTS Academic is to ensure that your English is at a level that allows you to understand any lecture and participate in any debate, on any topic. In other words, to make sure that you dominate the language not only to live, but also to speak in a more advanced way in different academic scenarios.

IELTS GENERAL TRAINING (IELTS GT)
The IELTS GT is suitable for people who want to study abroad rather than in universities (if you don’t know the difference, click here). This exam is also recommended for people who plan to migrate to a country where English is the predominant language, such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and for proving their fluency in the job market inside and outside Brazil.
